Will Resign if Elected
The name of our collage is "Will Resign if Elected." When Will Rogers was asked (by the Democratic Party) to run for governor of Oklahoma, he declined the offer but said that if he chose to run he would choose this as his slogan. We chose Will Rogers as our main focus because he played a major part in Oklahoma's political history. He did not hold office, but was a major political commentator both in writing and on the radio.
To research our project we took a tour of the State capitol. For the background of our collage we took pictures of the capitol, both inside and out. We focused on the beauty of the architecture and the art work hanging on the walls. We met personally with Judge Gary Lumpkin, who told us a little about the history of the capitol building. We spent another evening shopping for different materials for the main figure in our collage in order to give our art texture and dimension. We spent many evenings working on our project and viewed this as opportunity to learn about the politics of our state. |
