The King of the Dome
Oklahoma politics. Politics is the science and art of government, concerned with the form, organization, and administration of a state or states and the relationship between states. Each of the fifty states has its own views and ideas about how our country should be ran. Our collage illustrates and represents what makes up Oklahoma politics. When our group found out what we were doing the collage over it seemed overwhelming. How can someone express so much without overpowering the issue? After several days researching and debating on what would be good or great, we came up with the design "THE KING OF THE DOME". It symbolizes the saying "King of the Hill." We wanted to communicate a positive outlook on our government.
The donkey and elephant are racing to the top to become the number one political party, each one wanting to make our state better for the people. We added a 3-D effect to give them more emphasis and make them eye catching. Republicans and democrats play a large role in our legislation.
When we started to draw the capital, we realized that it was going to take time to make it look just right. There are over five hundred pictures constructing the capital. From the "Land Run" to the Oklahoma City bombing, each picture signifies what has made Oklahoma politics what it is today. The Oklahoma City bombing has made our security more prepared and ready for catastrophes. It was a heartrending tragedy that made our state stronger in many ways. There are some pictures of famous people like Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, and Ronnie Howard. This tells people that Oklahoma has many successful people. There is not a single picture on the capitol that doesn't have a meaning behind it. We worked really hard on finding just the right ones such as Governor Henry, the six chiefs of the Five Civilized Tribes, and the Oklahoma flag. They all take part in making up the capital.
The last thing we wanted to express was how we did the sky and grass. People say it is too plain or missing something, but we feel different about it. To us the sky and grass stands for the environment of Oklahoma. Therefore, it should stay that way, nice and clean with fresh air. Oklahoma has diversity which creates a better atmosphere. Our state has brought many intelligent people here to be a part of our government. The open grasslands, clear blue skies, and the crisp clean air bring great politicians to our area, whereas other states cannot offer such benefits as these.
In closing we thought this was the best way to express our opinions and ideas on Oklahoma politics. Our collage displays what has made our state what it is today. Our legislatures are working hard everyday to make Oklahoma great. We believe our collage conveys that message.
