Politics in Time
With the Centennial Celebration of our great state just a year away our class wanted to come up with a collage theme that was somewhat of a tribute to Oklahoma Politics. As a class we discussed what we wanted our theme to be and we came up with "Politics in Time." We wanted to have pictures from statehood to the present. In our study of Oklahoma politics we have discovered many colorful political figures. Politicians like Alfalfa Bill Murray, Kate Barnard, Raymond Gary, George Nigh, all the way to the present politicians in our state. We wanted our collage to be a tribute to these politicians and all the rest who have shaped the history of our young state. Like the other classes from are school we found that the process of putting this collage together was much more difficult than brainstorming for a theme. The first basic steps that we took were to collect all the images we could that dealt with Oklahoma politics and that had to do with time. We thought in the beginning we would have a lot of images with clocks on our collage, but that idea changed when the layout process took place. We started meeting as a class and got the plywood primed and painted. A couple of days later we began the layout process. Thanks to one of our gifted artistic classmates our collage turned into something we never expected. She had a great idea to put all of our political images on the board and then she would paint clocks over the top of those images. It was so neat to see the collage come together. When you look at our collage you will notice the clocks and then as you look closer you will see Oklahoma politicians and other political images underneath.
As a class we were a little surprised how well our collage turned out. We were so pleased to see our many hours of hard work culminate into something we could really be proud of. It was fun to come together as a class and work on this project. It was really awesome when we had our pizza party the night we were finishing up. This project was a great learning experience for all of us. We have all made some memories that will stay with us for quite sometime.
