Oklahoma Collage Project to Continue Under New Partnership!!!
Collage 2008 Information and Changes
The Hideaway is happy to be formally partnering with the Oklahoma History Center and OKLAHOMA TODAY and to be able to continue presenting this competition. However, this partnership has created a few very important changes for entrants to be aware of when scheduling their work.
We have determined that the theme for Collage 2008 is Field, Forest and Stream: Oklahomans and the Outdoors.
Please note the following changes: The NEW deadline for registering is February 1st, 2008, and the NEW deadline for entries is March 1st, 2008.
The prize money will remain the same, $10,000, but will be divided differently. How is yet to be determined, but we will post this information as soon as we have decided what other new categories for prizes there will be. Additional prizes may also be announced shortly.
The Essay portion of the contest will be judged separately in 2008, and the essays MUST be written by the participants. If a class is entering the contest, then the students themselves must write the essays. The essay is a very important part of the project, as it helps to communicate to the viewer the hidden meanings behind the imagery. But remember, your collage is first and foremost a VISUAL depiction of the theme. It needs to stand on its’ own to communicate the theme, and will be judged for this.
The collages must be in horizontal format, 3’ tall by 5’ wide. Please refer to the Get Started page for all details regarding the requirements for final submissions. ALL entrants must register before beginning so we can update you as locations for entry submission, times, dates, etc. are finalized and any additional updates can get to you in a timely manner.
We prefer to communicate via E-Mail, so please make sure you have given us a current address that you check regularly. As always, a panel of distinguished judges will review the collages and essays. All entries become the property of The Hideaway for long-term public display throughout Oklahoma.
As always, our contest is open to any individual, business, class or organization in the state of Oklahoma. This is a “hands on” project that involves many opportunities for contributions to create the final project, so register today, roll up your sleeves, start your planning, cutting and pasting to create your own Oklahoma masterpiece!
